My story with Big Blue Sky begins after my first week on the Gold Coast.
I couldn’t speak much English but arrived with my motivation bucket spilling over!
So first thing, downloaded Eventbrite to join a community event. And there it was: Big Blue Sky. “This sounds good”, I thought, and pressed the button: “A meeting of the minds, an examination of what is happening around the world, a disruption of thinking to determine and co-create best possible future”. “WOW… I want that”
I sent them a message and the co-founder Christine McDougall contacted me. She offered to join straight away.
When I look my walk through this organisation I cannot do anything else but contemplate it. I’m participating in something bigger, and in a field that I’m passionate about. I’m having the opportunity to follow my dream on the Gold Coast. I have to say that Big Blue Sky has helped me to fully discover my passion, and even more, the Four ppineapple brand has been inspired by this movement of collaboration, innovation, sustainability, and connection to the community and other companies seeking to disrupt business as usual; where every single person it’s being heard.
At Big Blue Sky you get connected to others like YOU, wanting to lead change; here you can ask questions that haven’t been answered before; here doing mistakes is allowed. It is just contagiously engaging. Big Blue Sky it’s been my inspiration to build a business where keeping its human side is a full priority.
Big Blue Sky is a citizen led platform at the intersection of government, business and communities to co-create a healthy, vital, diverse future to enable our children to thrive.
Apart from the annual event that brings together local and worldwide guests to demonstrate generative models in business, finance, governance, education, entrepreneurship, social enterprise, health and energy that have worked around the planet, we are now working on a regional hub that includes an incubator, an accelerator for commercialisation, on-going education events and programs, a patient capital fund, mentors, coaches, stewards and facilitators… With the idea of connecting people with the technology and expertise that is necessary for rapid, sustainable success.
The overall outcome that Big Blue Sky Co-lab seeks is that the Gold Coast be known world wide as a city that works together across all sectors, deploying advanced innovation and an entrepreneurial mind-set, to co-create the future we want to see for our children.
